His beloved one, Laila was captured while she was on an espionage mission. Thanks to intelligence work and some tactics Hidalgo used, she was located inside Zapata's command base, a standard rebel base. The rescue should not be a problem.
Araujo himself led the gunboats who would disable the station, after this was done, Zapata launched a shuttle to escape along with Laila Araujo turned to engage to disable the shuttle when out of nowhere two huge, odd looking unknown ships entered the area just to fire a beam onto the shuttle. It exploded. Suddenly it was all over .... no survivors, life suddenly was filled up with sadness, a deep pain , there was no light inside Araujo's heart...no nothing...and the Empire.
It's hard to describe but somehow things must go on, life will continue....Araujo got over the fact Laila was gone and in the next years served Hiunder dalgo's fleet sometimes fighting warlords , sometimes fighting new republic forces and sometimes being reassigned to help Isard fight more warlords and rebels.
The Empire was dying, divided more and more and backing off from the growing new republic, new rep pilots had morale, armament, training and skills (savefor the new ones)...yet all forces under Hidalgo's command, like the protectors of a lost cause, keep the fight keeping up the morale, having more skills and sometimes better luck than the rebels themselves. Araujo was no exception to this rule tho at some point he thought this must come to an end.....the mpire must counterattack...but the warlords prevented this with their childish fights....yet he found their position quite an interesting irony: the right and perfect style of the Empire twisted like physics are twisted as you close into a black hole, more and more pompous titles yet void of anything needed to backthem up, buildings were more and more decorated like trying to revive the lost glory...but the lost glory just wasnt like that....then Araujo realized each one of those had different views on the Empire....worse than being init for profit, they thought it was only for profit....yet they were the last line of defense the Empire had.....there was no Imperial Starfleet anymore just chaos....a different type of darkness than the one Araujo wanted.
but he forgot there was his commander, Admiral Hidalgo and his former commander: Grand Admiral Thrawn, yes Thrawn, he hasnt returned from the unknown regions ...he hasnt played his role in this chaos the galaxy has become...yet...Araujo gained a lot of confidence in Thrawn to the pint he saw him somehow like an exemplary officer, like a father protecting even the lowest rank officer from death unless neccesary. yes, the rebels will have to deal with him....
Fortunately for Araujo Thrawn did return a few months later, as soon as h was told, he went to request transfer to his fleet, it wasnt needed tho, Thrawn himself asked to gather all his surviving pilots ...unfortunately his old friend , Stele wasnt there....but he met some other pilots , some were former officers of his fleet, some others went with his brand new task force and some others were just slected because they were decent pilots with good skills.
